Primary American Idol

Here is Adelle performing in the American Idol program sponsored by our children's program at church. She played Surprise Symphony and Old MacDonald Had A Farm with only a few squeaks on the clarinet. She did a great job and looked the part with the cute hate. I am proud of her for being so brave to perform solo in front of others.

The Office

So my latest obsession is The Office. Joel picked up Season 2 and 3 from the Chapman Library for me. I have been staying up way too late watching the shows and nearly peeing my pants laughing. For those of you who are faithful watchers over the years here are some of the funny episodes I've watched that you might remember.

- "The Negotiation" in which Dwight pepper sprays Roy when he is trying to attack Jim for kissing Pam.
- "Women's Appreciation" when Pam draws a picture of the perpetrator that flashed Phyllis for Dwight to poster all over town and the picture strongly resembles Dwight.
- "Beach Games"  when Angela lets Andy float away on Lake Scranton in a sumo suit.
- "The Injury" when Michael burns his foot on his George Foreman Grill
- Conflict resolution" when Michael reads off all the complaints Dwight as written against Jim and they are all hylerious pranks, like paying everyone in the office 5$ to call Dwight  by another name (Duane?) all day or putting nickels into his phone one each day until it changes the weight of the phone then taking all the money out and watching Dwight hit himself in the head when answering his phone.

Now if I can talk Joel into picking up Season 4 for me...

Happy Birthday McKinley!!

Enjoy the cookies. Thanks Heather for the idea. I made seven and let my girls each pick one and then sent the rest to my niece. Maeve picked that goofy looking chocolate chip one and carried it around for a couple of days pretending to eat it but getting mad if someone else "ate" her cookie.

Soccer Season again

We have some goal scorers on the team this year and Adelle is excited to be winning games this season. She is still playing in goal most of the time and didn't get scored on yesterday. Joel made me promise not to volunteer to coach this season. I'm trying hard not to be one of those parents that coaches from the sideline.

Learn to Knit

The best learn to knit book ever.  Only problem with this kerchief was that it was suppose to be for me but turned out too small. I had the same problem when I was learning to crochet a hat. Maeve got that one too even though it was suppose to be for a newborn. Maybe checking the gauge is important! :)

Crafting Fridays...baby stuff

I've spent a few Fridays making baby stuff for two baby showers. I recently decided to try making changing pads and wet bags for all those poopy clothes. This set with a burp cloth was for a Texas cowboy due soon. I made another set for my neighbor and a new changing pad for Jude to try to protect our quilts better. I tried both vinyl and fusible vinyl and am pretty much done ever sewing with either. Not much fun.

Trouble...

Do these two look like trouble? Do you see a future of knife throwing across the living room at each other or skipping school and eating marshmallow creme while hiding in the garage?

Daffodowndilly

Daffodowndilly
by A. A. Milne

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
"Winter is dead."

Found this during Adelle's poetry study this term. Thanks Mom for planting our garden for us!  Though our daffodils have bloomed we are still hoping winter isn't dead yet because the A/C at church is being worked on for a couple of weeks. And this Alaskan does not do hot well...

Baby Shower Game-Odd Celebrity Baby Names

I went to a baby shower this evening that had some fun new games. One game was a variation on the melted chocolate bars in diapers but it was white powder in zip lock bags that you had to identify without opening the bag (i.e. powdered sugar, flour, cornstarch, sugar, bisquick, baking powder and soda, baby powder, laundry detergent, baby formula). The other one was match the celebrity with their odd baby names. I got 8 out of thirty. How many do you know?

Shakespeare

One of Adelle's favorite books in this year's curriculum is Tales of Shakespeare. Where was this beauty during my high school English classes? It is the Shakespeare plays in narrative form for children. She loves them. And I love that my 7 year old loves to read Shakespeare! She makes name tags for all the characters and tapes them to her People People so she can act out her narration.  In our curriculum we read two per term. So far we have read The Tempest, Midsummer Night's Dream, A Winter's Tale, and As You Like It. Her favorite was The Tempest simply because it has a fairy named Ariel in it (and she is Ariel the mermaid if you didn't know).

Crafting Fridays...

To keep my sanity I have designated Fridays as my crafting day no matter what the house looks like. Adelle is at the learning center all day giving Maeve free reign of the toys so she plays happily for hours and Jude sleeps happily for hours because no one is fighting and screaming waking him up. The last couple Fridays I sewed with friends but this week I was on my own. Here are some of my creations for my new nephew Miles to spit up on. Thanks to Carrie for the inspiration.

Jude

Joel has been busy shooting his thesis. So I had to take some photos of Jude. Poor guy, being the third kid and all he doesn't get his picture taken much. Hopefully soon I can get Joel to take some good photos of him.
